System Administrator 

Duties and Responsibility:

The Application & Database Administrator is responsible for the technical design, planning, implementation, and the highest level of performance tuning and recovery procedures for JFAlbert Group enterprise systems. These includes:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of host computers by monitoring system performance, configuration, maintenance and repair
  • Develop new system and application implementation plans, custom scripts and testing procedures to ensure operational reliability.
  • Supervise Operations staff including hiring, training, guiding, evaluating and disciplining.
  • Perform troubleshooting as required. Lead problem-solving efforts often involving outside vendors and other support personnel and/or organizations.
  • Install, modify and maintain systems and utility software on server computer systems.
  • Establish guidelines and methods for the installation and management of the host computer operating systems, disk arrays, fiber channel switches, tape libraries and other components.
  • Ensure high availability and acceptable levels of performance of mission critical host computer resources.
  • Develop procedures to maintain security and protect systems from unauthorized use, acts of nature, and user abuse.
  • Develop procedures, programs and documentation for backup and restoration of host operating systems and host-based applications.
  • Monitor the data center and computer host systems including hardware, software and equipment such as UPS (Uninterrupted Power System), fire protection system, and environment monitoring systems.
  • Stay current with technological developments in systems administration technology and recommend ways to take advantage of new technology.

Qualification and Experience:

  • Educated to university degree level or equivalent, preferably in a related field (Information Technology, Computer Science, telecommunications, Engineering)
  • Experience in System Administration or more than 3 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Microsoft MCPs or MCSE
  • ITIL Certification / MOF (Microsoft Operational Framework)
  • Added advantages, Microsoft and Cisco certification, Enterprise backup and recovery procedures, and system performance monitoring and other relevant industry recognized qualification.
